Trying to convert cassette to cd using sony sound forge through laptop

I'm pretty sure you need a certain kind of sound card along with the software to do this.

They have USB cassette decks that you can buy that come with software. They run about 99.00 or so online. You can also buy a new soundcard that has input/outputs to run your home stereo through it and record that way. The soundcard will probably be in the 120.00+ range. Creative Labs has some of the best out there. To me the USB cassette deck would be the way to go. Check Amazon.com or EBAY to try and get the best prices.

Must have been braindead and read over the laptop. The USB casstte deck will be the route. You cannot change the sound card on the laptop. Sorry!
