I do not know what state you are situate in and thus what Statutes or Rules of Criminal Procedure apply, etc. Please do check with an attorney in the state where you received the DUI. There are websites as indicated above and you can make a call and often get a free consultation and find out if you can get this item expunged (removed) from your record. If you can, it would be worth a small investments not only to clear your history but for your peace of mind. Often their may be mitigating circumstances that allow a record to be expunged, but only a practicing attorney or possibly paralegal in the area of criminal law in the state in which the incident occurred can tell you with certainty. I am in the legal profession but not criminal law and do not want to mislead you and that is why I direct you to someone who can properly answer your question. Good luck to you.

Ok as for as being explunged maybe in 5 to 8 years from now, but they will want some time to pass.

Next what type of jobs are you looking at, truck driver, some type of driver ? DUI in some states don't even show up in the criminal check but in the DL check as a traffic offense.

Remember it has been only 6 months since it happened,

And it is not wrong to hire those with no records over those with some type of record, it is allowed.

It is a shame, but I get the same thing, only I have been convicted of two misdomenors.
They do this all the time. Get you a lawn mower and go into business for yourself (or think of something else) or better yet go back to school. It makes you wonder how people who are convicted (or charged) with more serious crimes (felons) are supposed to live. No wonder people end up back in jail. My best advice go into business for yourself.

Try waiting tables for a while. I've had 3 DUI's. Two in one state, and I got them all w/in three months. I'm currently on felony probation for getting the second one in one state. I'm not proud of this but since then I have completed a six month rehab and am doing great. I waited tables for a while and looked for other jobs at the same time. I made great money when I was waiting and it was fun.
The main thing I wanted to tell you is don't worry because with one DUI you will find a job. I just got hired on with a company in September and they started me out at $52,000! That's better than I ever thought I'd be making with just a bachelor's at age 23. My point is, hang in there, there are plenty places that will hire you. And, obviously, don't ever drink and drive again. It's not worth it.
