Why don't you simply adjust THAT thermostat to what you want?

I want to make the area cooler that the thermostat will set. The digital temp goes to 67 and I need it to temporarly go cooler.

Not going to happen then... not unless you wish to ruin the unit.

There are reasons... the lower you go the more likely the evaporator will be to ice up due to humidity in the air. That will result in the unit burning up by running non-stop.

Yes I am well aware that the unit will ice up. Thanks for your input!

So... why does it HAVE to get colder than 67? I'm curious about that.

Have you looked into renting a portable roll-around air conditioner? You run the hot air out a window (maybe through a hole cut in a piece of plywood to fill the gap.

They can put out a lot of cold air... generally aren't limited and are more intended for commercial applications.
