2(4c-7)=8c+14
8c-14-8c+14
8c-8c-14+14
= 0
so the answer is 0?

2(4c-7)=8c+14
8c-14 = 8c +14

Slight mistake in the next part..
Go slow and steady and do the same on both sides..
Do ONE step at a time..

Actually this one doesn't make any sense.
Are you sure it's correct ?

OK but the abswer is still 0 right ?
8c-14=8c+14
because it all croses out so its 0

Well actually this is how it works out.

8c-14=8c+14
8c-14-8c=14
so
0c-14=14
0c-14+14=14+14
0c=28!

See the problem here...

I got it but y don't u move the other 14 so it looks like
8c-14-8c-14?

Curlyben

Because then you get
0c-28=0
so
0c=28
as I posted above.

Now what happens when you divide anything by ZERO ?

Did he copy the problem correctly? (I can't stay out of this!)

O I get it now thanks!

Do you see the problem here?

You

Curlyben
Jun 13, 2012, 02:42 PM
So what was the mistake ?

qwertyuioop
Jun 13, 2012, 02:43 PM
It makes the answer 0!

Curlyben

Noo
What do you get if you dive any number by ZERO ?

How many zeros in 1??

qwertyuioop

hu?
I just went on a calculator and did 0 divided by 7(random number) and I got 0

Curlyben
Jun 13, 2012, 02:50 PM
Well that's because the calculator gives up and panics ;)

There's an infinite number of ZEROs in any given number, so a calculator produces and error state...

Oh k got it

Curlyben
Jun 13, 2012, 02:53 PM
So because of that, there's an error in the original equation.
Your method is getting there though..
