I think the motor went out. I used to tap the top to start it but now it won't start at all. I would hear condenser humming but not fan and motor would get hot. I removed the motor but all I can read off it is 1/10 HP and it's a GE motor. If I replace the motor should I replaced the capacitors as well? My motor has 3 wires, black, yellow and brown. Itook a picture of it and I wish I can post it.

I called a local AC place and they've called Day & Night which is Carier and they said that it was a 1/8 HP 825 RPM based on my condenser model number and they said a 1/6 HP 825 RPM aftermarket will do. After removing the old motor I noticed that it's a 1/10 HP. Shuld I be concern with HP and RPM?

Stay with 825 RPM. Always replace the capacitor with a new one of the proper size for the new motor. Also check rotation. Motors can be CCW or CW depending upon blade or what was originally installed. Wire the new motor EXACTLY as it says to do on the wiring diagram on the side of the motor or motor instructions that came in the box.

Just got my motor 1/6 HP 825 RPM and the capacitor to match it from US Air. It comes with a wire that you can reverse the rotation so I did CCW like my old one. The 2 brown and brown w/ white is plugged in to the new capacitor. Small yellow w/ green is attached to ground. Now the next 3 The schematics says the white wire is line, black is high, red is low. With 4 wire hook up. My original isa 3 wire and I also have a run capacitor with 3 cnnectors and a start capacitor with 2 coonectors. What's high or low. Voltage or RPM
