I am a writer and my E-machine T2085 will not power up, I replaced the power supply and it still did not power-up the only thing that I got was a red light on the mother board. The power supply seem different than original they say it is a rplacement for my E-machine
T2085. I need to get it going because all of my writing are on the hard drive. I have deadlines coming up and I have been for a month trying to fix it myself. Can anyone out there in cyberworld help me. I need an angel who is a hero! Helppppppppppppppppppppp!

First thing to do in these situations is to disconnect everything except video, system board, power supply, and processor. With just those components, see if it will show the boot on screen.

If so, then add devices back one at a time, checking in between each to see that it still boots. That should lead to determining what hardware is causing your problem.

If not, then you have either bad memory, processor, system board, or video. Usually bad video or memory will give you a beep code. It is also rare for a processor to die without a fan failure first. Therefore, the most likely defective part is the system board.

As for you data, provided the hard drive is not damaged, you can always place the drive in another computer (with equal or newer version of Windows) as a secondary drive and retrieve your data.

I am having the same problem with a T2085. What did you eventually do to fix your problem last year?
