ANY question on law needs to include your general locale as laws vary by area.

The court MAY require that you appear to affirm that you are agreeable to the adoption. It may let you appear by telephone or it may just accept a signed and notarization declaration. It will be up to the local court.

First, please don't start multiple threads over the same issue. I've merged your threads for you.

Whether you have to pay back support has nothing to do with the adoption. It has to do with whether the mother ever filed for support from you. It has to do with the laws where the child lives as to whether they allow retroactive support.

Any future support obligation will end, but we need more info to know if you will be responsible for back support.

If what she wants is for the partner to adopt, then get an agreement that she will not ask for back support and then sign. Her lawyer should prepare all the paperwork, You should not have to do anything except go to court if required.

I'm just guessing at what you mean by "bebt", but if you are asking whether you will be obligated for future child support, I believe you were already told "no".

I answered that when you first asked the question. It is up to the court. The court may require that you affirm your assent in court. I can't say for sure, since it will be up to the judge.

Exactly what part of post #2, above, did you not understand?
