In my case I paid child support and the state paid it to the wrong mother (there are 2) and I am being told even though they did I am still responsible for the money not paid to the other mother. The state paid the first mother more money than she was due even though there were no arreages. The other mother got zero for 2 months . And I am told that I need to pay this . My passport is locked and licence because of the states mistake . Is there anything I can do to get this resolved . I may loose my job because of this error .

Thanks

Sure. Get an attorney to straighten it all out. Or figure out how yourself.

Passports and licenses are locked pursuant to paperwork being processed. Get ahold of the paperwork and get it reconsidered.

I'm confused by one part though. You say there are two mothers. There are billions of them. But these two mothers have some relationship to your child? What do you mean by that?

And yes; if you loose your job over this, you may (depending on the details) have a case against the agency. Make sure they are aware of that.

You are paying support for at least 2 children from two different mothers. But paying through the same state agency? Correct?

Are your payments garnished or paid direct to the agency?

Makes sense now that you put it that way. :)

If this was indeed a mistake on the part of the agency, it may be liable; but perhaps not. It depends on whether the state has waived sovereign immunity for this sort of a mistake. Loss of a DL would seem to mean some damages, but I'm not sure you can prove damages unless you loose your job.
