Hi! I'm 18 and I have been sexually active with my boyfriend for about a month now. I had my last period on May 16th (it was heavier than usual) and we did it on the 19th and the 23rd (both times using a condom). Around the 28th I started noticing nausea every night before I go to sleep but I never puked. I started researching all those stuff about pregnancy then but my boyfriend assured me I'm most probably not pregnant because it's too early to have the symptoms and he checked the condoms every time and that it was safe. We had a pregnancy test on June 2nd and it turned out negative. I know it's too early but my boyfriend insisted. (My period usually comes around 2nd to 3rd week of the month.)

Still can't stop worrying though because I still feel nausea and sometimes for the whole day. I'm also constipated and seem like I'm tired more often than not (I'd credit that to my lack of activity since it's summer break). I'm also feeling little menstrual cramps so I'm hoping to have my period soon. So I'm just wondering if it's not pregnancy (hopefully it's not?) then what could it be?

It could be pregnancy. Yes, it's a bit early to have symptoms, but some women do. Also, a condom is one of the least reliable forms of birth control out there. To bring it home, even with protection, even if you use 3 or more forms of protection, pregnancy is possible. Any time you have sex, protected or not, pregnancy is possible.

I'm sorry to say, but you'll have to wait and see whether you get your next expected period. If you don't, test again. Make sure to use first morning urine. If it's negative, wait a week or two. If you still haven't gotten your period, test again, or see a doctor for a more accurate blood test.

Good luck.

It is possible, you first real sign will be if you miss your period this month ( or if it is very light and only lasts a day or two.

So until then no way to tell. And you need to wait a week AFTER you miss the period to do the test. If you boyfriend researched it and was not worried, he would not have asked for the test and he would have known the test would not show anything

Are the symptoms really pointing towards pregnancy? Like there is a bigger chance of being pregnant as to not? We really can't have a baby right now since I know we can't support the baby properly right now. :(

It's not the symptoms that I'm going by. It's the fact that you had sex, unprotected sex to boot, and during a time when most women are most fertile.

Pregnancy is a huge possibility, especially because of everything you did when you had sex.

I hate to be harsh, but really, if you can't afford a baby, then you shouldn't be having sex.

I know but we give in to temptations sometimes, right? My boyfriend and I agreed to stay away from it for a while. Thank you for your and Fr_Chuck's help. :)

I hope it works out. Hopefully you dodged the bullet, but I have to say, giving into temptation is the very thing that's the cause of the majority of teen pregnancies, and some adult pregnancies, today.

When it comes to sex, you have to use your head, and not just follow what your body wants. If you want to play adult games, then you have to be ready for the consequences. There's no such thing as safe sex. The only form of birth control that's 100% effective, is not having sex. That's a fact.

I get it. I was a teen once too. I had way too many moments of temptation that I didn't walk away from. I got lucky. Very lucky. I hope you get lucky this time too, and learn from this so that you never have a scare like this again.

Right now, the only thing you can do is wait, hope for the best, and if it turns out that you are pregnant, you do have options, and if you need help with those, should the bullet hit the target, we're here to help. This doesn't have to ruin your life. But either way, you do have to learn from this. I bet right now the few moments of pleasure you had aren't worth the stress you're feeling. Been there, done that, and I didn't learn. But, I got lucky. A lot of girls aren't as lucky. There are women on this site that were using 3 different forms of birth control, had sex once, and got pregnant, at a very young age.

If I had a dime for every friend of mine that got pregnant while on one, two, three, even more, forms of birth control, I'd be rich.

I really don't want to scare you, but those are the facts. Right now you have to play the waiting game, and truly, even though you may think I've been harsh by telling you the truth, I really hope that you've dodged the bullet this time. But keep in mind, if you play Russian roulette, sooner or later you will get shot.
