My 4ton watercooled A/C was blowing cold but every now and again would trip the breaker. Replaced breaker, still tripped. Thought might be low on R22 so I checked, was a bit low not much, topped it up. Started blowing breaker more often and now does not work at all. Any thoughts? It is a Thermo plus watercooled a/c.

It could be the compressor start components or run components. Start relay, start capacitor or run capacitor and the start contactor itself. It could be a burnt or loose wire on the compressor or one of the components mentioned. Last but not lease it could be the compressor itself is failing. You need some specific tools and meters to check for all the possibility's which the average person does not have and even if you have the required tools/meters you have to know how to use/read them. Check for the loose wires and if none found you need to call for a ON SITE HVAC professional to give you the final determination. Sorry but that is all I can do from here. Good luck. PS turn off the electric power before checking the wires.
