Hello!

We were recently having issues with the new versions of Silverlight. My girlfriend tried to download an older version. Apparently the sight she tried to download it from was rogue. I tried to uninstall it (Silverlight) without success. I thought if I went into safe mode, I might be able to get rid of it that way. However, I was not able to boot into safe mode. The computer just went to black screen. I was able to reboot in normal mode by turning off the computer and restarting so I went into msconfig and checked the system boot box in an effort to force reboot in safe mode. Now it won't boot in normal or safe mode. (black screen) If I could un-check the system boot box, the computer would not be trying to boot into safe mode, so it seems I’m stuck there.

Any thoughts or help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like you may have picked something up from that sight. The best bet would to restore your computer for the state it was when it was new. Depending on te make and model this is usually done with recovery disk either supplied by the manufacture or mad bu the user. Remember restoring your OS will delete your data. However a restore is the only way to remove malware and viruses with 100% certainty.
