My water heater sprung a leak. I closed the valve so no water can enter the water heater. Cold water pressure is still strong in all the house sinks, but no water at all comes out of the two upstairs showers, or the washing machine. There is no sound at all- no gurgling, no air- silence, and no water. I know I'll replace the water heater within the week, but how come I can't get any cold water to the washing machine or showers when I can get cold water to the kitchen and bathrooms sinks?

It sounds like, somewhere along the line, you've had some work done and your pipes got crossed. I'd call in a sharp plumber to check out your pipe system. Good luck, Tom
