I had a new shower installed in our home a wee while ago. I thought the cold water flow was low so I asked the plumber to make it stronger.A friend of mine had a look at it and said the cold water pressure is too high. I find it very hard to adjust the shower flow when wanting a warm shower, it seems to either get very hot or cold and the control lever is very sensitive and it will take me five minutes or more to get it to the right setting. Im wondering if I turned the cold pressure down to how it was, if there will be an improvement to how it flows now. Im don't know how to do this, can you help please.

Hi Lena
I'm afraid your friend is talking nonsense here in that all shower valves manufactured, for years and years now, are temperature and pressure balanced, so whatever the cold pressure in is the same pressure as the hot, OK?
More likely here is that the balancing spool has failed... ;)
Can you give us a name brand on the valve?
Also, check the pressure as suggested by Tom by purchasing a hose bib pressure gauge and then stick it on an outside faucet to see what the cold pressure is. These hose bib gauges are sold at all home improvement stores, OK?
