My 6 week old kitten walks funny. She has a fat rear end and sometimes walks with her back legs bent so the rear is close to the ground. She also hops like a frog sometimes- not the typical pouncing. She seems normal besides that. She was born with a sister who is normal and another sibling that had breathing problems and died at 2 weeks old. The mother had to have anesthesia before the kittens were born. Any ideas? I can't afford to take her to vet- saving up for vaccines. I have someone waiting to take the kittens but don't want to give if she has problems.
Thanks.

My cat was pretty near the same way. He had what seemed to be larger rear legs, and he used to hop around, and when he ran his rear legs shot outward as if they were too big. He's now almost 1 year old, can jump and run and carry on. I don't think you have anything to worry about. If it begins to cause the kitten difficulties doing normal tasks, such as running, jumping even walking I would consider it a problem.

If she is fine otherwise and not failing to do well, eating /drinking in other words is a normal kitten in all other ways then I wouldn't rush her in just yet.
Since you are saving for vaccines I assume you have plans to take her in to see the vet within the next couple weeks.
Have them check the legs at that time, it could be a deformity of some sort, but cats are very resilient and have a way adapting and making their world work for them.
If she declines and begins to not be able to use the legs or drags herself around then I would get her in sooner than you had planned.

Thank you! I was planning on waiting it out but thought I'd put it up and see if anyone had any insight. Thanks, again!
