I have a Child Neglect w/no harm felony on my record back in 2007. I wasn't convicted of the charge and it was adjudication w/held also. Can I work as a Medical Assistant with this on my record?

I don't know how you could work as a medical asst. without a certification classification. Are you a certified Personal Support Worker, a Registered Nursing Asst (which requires cert)?

All of above need a background check for employment. If this felony will not show on one, then I don't see why not.

There is a way to get that completely taken away from even being seen. But also Everest College is where I am about to attend and I have a felony. They told me that most private practices do not do background checks but corporate locations do. They told me that when I complete my externship they will actually put me at a site that does not require a background check. I went in and spoke with the medical assistant chairperson. I am in Georgia. I hope this helps.

In the new medicare laws and standards, your company has to be ( at least where I worked) certified with a accredition firm to bill medicare. One of those requirements is background checks. These firms can not get accreditation to bill medicare if they have anyone with a felony who has contact with the patients.

Not sure how this applies to doctors officers, but it does to hospitals, medical supply companies, home health care and other groups
