I went on a 12 day vacation and threw the breaker on the hot water heater, but did not cut off the water. When I returned, I turned the breaker on and took a shower before going to bed and every thing seemed normal. The next morning we could not get any water out of any hot water faucet. I closed and opened the cold water valve and tried to drain the tank, but very little water came out.

Hi mmattison and Welcome to The Plumbing Page. At AskMeHelpDesk.com. You're responding to a 2 year old dead thread so I gave you one of your own. Look in then upper left hand corner of the first post form the date in the first post before you post, Thanks,
. I closed and opened the cold water valve and tried to drain the tank, but very little water came out. That tells me that the problem's in the cold water supply. I'd shut the water off to the house and open up the cold water valve to see if it's blocked. You might just crack the house shut off for a second to see if you have pressure feeding the cold water shut of valve. Let me know the results. Good luck, Tom
