What is the name of the test that proves that protection devices and single pole switches are connected in the line wire?

Turn off all breakers, if power goes out, they were protected by breakers.

Have you been trained on how to work on electrical circuits? If not then you have a very real exposure for a shocking, or fatal shock.
A simple voltage test will give you most information. If the meter displays, 120 volts, then you have a line voltage, sourced from the panelboard.
