Sorry but I miss understood the question. I was calculating the sq. ft of the entire surface of the board. What was I thinking?

You were assuming that each side was 24 foot, which isn't the same as a 24 square foot board. We need more clarification to give an answer.

Board is the layman term for dimensional lumber which has the same area on both sides. If the board is 24 sq. ft then it could be 4x6 or 2x12 or 3x8, doesn't matter. We would need to know the thickness of the board to make a final calculation.

Yes, a dimensional lumber,board, is the same square area on the front and back. Picture a board 1' by 12'. It has a square area surface of 12 sq.ft. If you flip the board over to the opposite side it will also be 1'x12'. The ends will be identical to each other and the sides will be identical to each other.

Well yes but I'm pretty sure the OP is approximating the board as a 2 dimensional shape.

Let's say it is a square. 4.9 X 4.9 = 24.01 Close enough. So each side is 4.9 feet or 58.8 inches.
