I have a credit card debt and it has gone to an agency for collection. I have never had this happen before so I am not sure what they can do or what I can do. Please advise.

They have the right to take you to court to sue you for the full amount of the debt.. plus interest and fees... and even get a writ of garnishment if they win to take it from your paycheck or bank accounts wherever they may be...

You have the right to prove that the debt isn't yours in court, if it really isn't... and if it is something you bailed out on paying... be smart and work out a settlement BEFORE the court date and pay it. And you will likely pay less that way.

And don't just blow off the court date... it guarantees a win for them.
