Hi. I am 23 years old and in the past 13 or so years, I have never had a truly "regular' period. Due to other health issues my family doctor and the Planned Parenthood doctors that I have seen for my yearly exam believe that I have PCOS, but nothing has ever really been discussed further than that. Due to being in a regular relationship (my bf has a vasectomy), and not having major issues with my period, I haven't been on birth control for almost 2 years now. While my period wasn't "regular" as in once a month, I would usually have about a 4 day period every couple of months with no real pain or cramping. In the last 8 months or so, I have been having a 4-5 day period about every month and a half but I have been having severe cramping. This last month has been different. Starting about 2 weeks ago I began spotting/having a very very light period. About a week ago I started having very heavy bleeding with large clots. It isn't uncommon for my flow to be heavy so I didn't think much of it, but It has gone on for a week now. I am starting to get worried, but I don't have a regular OBGYN anymore and my friends I have talked to say their docs are hard to get appts with. Is this considered an emergency type situation? What should I do?
