How to enter fixed assets that have belonged to church for years but never entered on books?

How to enter fixed assets that have belonged to church for years but never entered on books?

The items would need to be valued and entered at valuation increasing both the value of Fixed Assets and Equity. What is the point of doing this? Surely the existence of the assets can be noted in an asset register without placing a value on them
