I rent from my mom and she rents from the land lord. She gave me a verbal 30 day notice on the 1st of may. When does that mean I have to move out?

As I calculate it, that would be May 31st. However in all places of which I am aware, a verbal notice to quit is ineffective. She must put it in writing.
