I can completely understand vegetarianism. I'm not one, mainly because I love meat. But I often think I should switch to the lifestyle because of my love of animals. I tend to block out what's done to the meat we buy, so that I can continue to enjoy it. Also, there are health benefits to eating meat that you won't get being a vegetarian, and, because of my health issues, cutting out meat really isn't recommended.
At your age I would highly recommend talking to your doctor about this. Your doctor will be able to keep up to date on your health, your growth (because at 13 you're still growing), and he/she will be able to recommend a vegetarian diet that will give you the most health benefits.
There is a risk to vegetarianism. I found a reliable site that I think you should read. It lists the benefits and risks to going vegetarian. I do have to stress that this site is geared more towards adults, people that are done growing. You're still young, and the risks would be higher for you then the risks listed on this link.

I would recommend the book Eat to Live by Dr. Fuhrman.
It is well researched and gives you a lot of advise how to get all the nutrients your body needs
