More info will be needed for an accurate response. How old is the pup? Is he up to date on vaccinations? What food do you feed him, how much and how often? Does he go for walks, if yes how long and how often? Is he eating, drinking, pooping, and peeing normally? How long has he been like this?

At 4 months, he should be on a puppy food. Alpo is the worse food you could possibly feed a dog. Feeding a puppy an adult food is going to make their little bodies go into overdrive to help them grow.

Foods I would recommend that are cheaper would be Iams puppy, Pro Plan puppy or just plain ol' Purina Puppy Chow.

Compare the food you are feeding to McDonald's. Its high in fat, high in startch, high in sugar and loaded with calories, and not the good kind. It would also cause excessive gas, smelly body odor and breath and very large, stinky stools. Switching to a better food would be a very beneficial thing for you.

On top of Alpo and foods like it (Beneful, Kibbles n Bits, Gravy Train) There is nothing nutritious that growing LARGE breed puppy will benefit from it... and you can actually stunt his growth. He needs to be on a large breed puppy food that is going to give his little body everything it needs.

Keep in mind Bull Mastiffs are not energetic dogs. They have a tendency to lay around and sleep a lot. Even as puppies, they are not the bouncy, out of control lab puppies everyone sees. His peronality may just not be very exuberant either. Some puppies are just lazy little puppies.. which in an adult life, you need to be VERY diligent on keeping his weight under control and not letting him get fat.

If he just doesn't seem right to you and is off, than take him to the vet for a physical exam. He may have low electrolytes... low sugar... he may be sick.. this just might be him.

First things first.. change his food. That will be on of the best things to do for him right now.. and make sure that you change him over to a decent large breed puppy food.
