Well my girlfriend is asian and they like to have their family around and living with, but she also has american values that we share. She asked me how would I feel if her mom moved in. I told her that I didn't want to feel like her mom is taking over because I would like my girlfriend to continue to help with the cooking and not let her mom take over the kitchen. She felt that my concern was over analyzed and she rather me roll with the punches and say yes. I don't think this type if topic shld just be jumped in and should be thought about. Am I wrong for not taking this lightly? I wouldn't let her mom not have a place to live when the time came to makr a decision. During discussions is when u voice your thoughts and concerns right?

Sometimes it can be hard to be rational when two people are deciding on a topic both have different views on. The beset thing to do is to continue to voice your opinion if it bothers you, sit her down and chat about it. Communication is KEY in situations such as this.

If her mom is traditional, she will be in charge of the home, and she will be in charge of her daughter.

I would advise against it, esp unless you have been together for many many years and unless your girlfriend is not afraid to stand up to mom

Lets put it this way; if she asked you, …how would you FEEL if Mom moved in and our sex life, romance, privacy and spontaneity in life 24 7 move out! Would you still be worried about who does the cooking?

I have friends and a partner whom can tell you all about Moms living too close to home or moving in for traditional and family reasons… From what I gather; Mom taking over the kitchen is the least of your worries! Its your whole relationship you should be worried about once you open up that door! Fortunately you have a voice and an analytical mind to weigh out the pros and cons of this situation; compassion if and when the time comes to give her place to live and hopefully a backbone left if all else fails. However, maturity and unity is what you both need right now... Id be asking with whom does your girlfriend want to be in a relationship with? Mom or you!
