I have manuals for all/most appliances that have been purchased from Sears and other companies. Now a DIY person has to be or get employed by a repair company? Different companies provide different rules for their products. Whirlpool probably doesn't want DIYs working on their products, so they don't lose money. If Whirlpool says it's unnavailable to the general public, they are most likely going to have a strict process to stop it from getting out. I would say getting one would be near impossible, and whoever does would be risking getting into big trouble.

Buy it new? Call warranty service. If used, that is the typical problem, always need to test.
