I can run 1.8 miles in 12 minutes and 10 seconds. How long would it take for me to run 3.1 miles, and can you explain how you got to the answer?

basic algebra:

12.166 minutes ÷ 1.8 miles = x minutes ÷ 3.1 miles

x = 12.166 ÷ 1.8 X 3.1
x = 20.95 minutes
