Someone I know was accused of rape last may,2011,and a rape test was done that day by the victim . Nothing was ever heard of it into last week, a year later, when the person accused of raping her was arrested. Why'd it take a whole year?

Collecting enough evidence to assure actually IS enough to secure a conviction usually... and I'm taking a wild guess... that this isn't the only issue the Police were working with the last year.

Plus Forensics and DNA tests aren't nearly as fast as they are on TV... they take time to run... and there is time before ethe labs can even get to them further delaying things.

Shows like CSI really do a disservice to the people that do this for a living... people think you get results at a snap of a finger... or while waiting a few minutes after bringing them in.

Yes I know people that do forensics for the FBI...

Technology isn't really as advanced as it shows on CSI or NCIS. Smoothly is correct. Plus every test has to be scheduled in and that may take months to accomplish.
