Respected doctor

I am 26 yrs old and got married a year before. Within 3 months of marriage, when I didn't conceive, I had consulted a qynacologist. I was diagonised with few small cyst and the doctor had prescribed the tablets, hyonidd (ayurvedic tablet) and Actos(for decreasing blood sugar or to maintain insulin level) and said, within 3 months I may conceive. I finished the course but coulnt conceive unfortunately. I was taking hyponidd. In February, I consulted a gyncologist in India. Ultrasound and blood test was done. These were the readings in pelvic scan report:
Uterus: Non-gravid & anteverted
Myometrial echoes normal
double layered endometrial thickness = 05mm
CERVIX: Echoes and size normal. L=69mm, W=40mm, H=35mm
ADNEXAE: No mass/cystic lesion seen
OVARIES: Are normal in size, echoes & outline R.O.: 23 . 23 . 18mm L.O.: 26 . 18 . 31mm POD: No free fluid seen.

The blood test readings were: TSH: 6.09 uIU/ml Prolactin: 41.41 ng/ml

After seeing the reports, the doctor said, everything is normal and I have minor thyroid for which she prescribed Thyronorm-12.5 mcg and just 1 tablet Caberlin and has asked me to visit her on second day of periods. When the reports r normal and I don't have cyst, why did she ask me to visit her in periods. I couldn't go to her as I had to fly back to UAE because was vacation had finished and my periods were 1 week late in that month. Is it necessary to go to a doctor in second day of periods? I have been taking thyronorm from more than 2 months but have not conceived yet. Please help me.
Thank You for your time. May God bless you.

We do not have a gyn on the site, but others can help answer questions.

When your doctor prescribed the Hyonidd and Actos, did you have blood work done to check for possible diabetes as well or were they prescribed simply due to having a few small cysts? Do you know if you have any concerns with your blood sugar level?

It is important to keep in mind that not being pregnant after a few months of trying is not unusual. While most couples will become pregnant within a year of trying, some will naturally take even longer. For this reason, many doctors will not even start any fertility type tests until a couple has tried unsuccessfully for a year.

Having a few small cysts does not automatically mean that there is a problem with conceiving. Your test results are generally fine, although, depending on the scale used, the prolactin could be considered a little elevated. Other times it may be considered normal, which is what your doctor apparently felt. However, the Caberlin is often used to help lower prolactin levels so maybe they did feel it was slightly elevated.

If your have low thyroid, that can cause an increase in prolactin, which can effect ovulation. Your doctor likely wanted you to be checked during your period as prolactin levels tend to be lower at that time. Around the time of ovulation they normally would increase naturally so it would not give an accurate reading of the level.

Have you been having regular periods? I would consult a doctor where you live and find out what your various levels are to see if the medications you have been using are working as expected. I would also discuss what, if any, your test results play a role in your ability to become pregnant. It may just be a matter of giving it more time of trying.

Did your doctor discuss ways of determining when you are most likely to be ovulating? Was any testing done to determine whether you are ovulating?

Definitely see your own gyn and discuss how things have gone so far with the other testing and such.

Thanks a lot for replying.

Hyponidd and Actos were given for the treatment of cysts. My blood sugar level is not high, its in normal range.

I always have regular periods anmy cycle is 30-33 days, its normally in between. Sometimes I have a 28 day cycle. Usually my periods start on the same date of every month.

I would like to know, how will the doctor test for ovulation. Is it done through urine test, blood test or by inserting probes (sonography). I am really scared through sonography because it pains a lot. Can you please tell me the symptoms of having high prolactin and ovulation. I have read about ovulation and based on what I have read, around 16-18th day, I have noticed white colour mucus which can be stretched but on the other days, white discharge is transparent in colour. If this is the sign of ovulation, I get worried then why I am not able to conceive?

Thanks a lot for your time. May God bless you.
