Hello All:
I have searched everything I can think of and still can't figure out my issue.
I just purchased a hunter highbury fan with a remote. The room is pre-wired with two switches but only a light was installed.
Out of the junction box there is are the standard 4 wires. Neutral, Black, White and Red.
I was able to hook everything up through the remote control, ignoring the second light switch. I have two questions.
1. If the light or fan are on and I turn the light switch OFF, then back ON I have to turn everything back on with the remote. It is like the remote does not maintain the ON/OFF status. (As a note the remote is connected between the power out of the junction back and the fan/light).
2. Can connect this so it will utilize the remote AND the two light switches? I tried just hooking up this up several ways WITHOUT the remote(transmitter) between but never had any luck. Coming out of the fan is a WHITE, BLACK and a BLACK/WHITE STRIPE wire, plus a ground.
If having the remote PLUS the TWO wall switches is not an option, it seems I could remove the transmitter and hook from the junction box to the fan/light. BLACK to BLACK, WHITE to WHITE and RED to BLACK/WHITE STRIPE. Anyone see a reason this might not work? It was not working for me earlier, but I might have missed something.
Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to supply.
Thanks
Kp
