My 22 year old nephew has got his (now ex) girlfriend pregnant, when they first split she was answering his calls and allowed him to go for a couple of scans. After the last scan she asked for money for a pram, as he didn't really trust her he said he'd give her money after she bought it, she didn't like that and told him to stick his money and has since refused all contact. He, and the rest of us, are devastated to being pushed out. He is concerned that when the baby is born he will be refused visits, he won't be named on the birth certificate, etc, etc... to be honest it is making him quite ill. She is due at the end of September, please advise where he stands, thanks. We live in Wales, Britain.

He can do nothing until the child is born. At that time he will need to file in court for joint custody and visitation. He should, however, consult a solicitor now.

Between now and when the child is born, there is nothing he can do. And most likely he can not make her add him to the birth certificate. But he can get visits with the child, though the courts.
