What is the maxium time in jail if you left the county without your p.o permission...

You were sentenced to a particular length of time, that was SUSPENDED upon the successful complettion of a period of probation.. It's THAT sentence that you can be made to serve. However, just because that's the LONGEST you can be made to serve, it doesn't mean that that's what the judge will do.

It doesn't matter how good you were. It only matters that you left. You certainly can hire a lawyer. It might help.

I don't know. Why did you leave? Did they catch you or did you come back on your own? How long were you gone? Are your fines and fees paid? How long WAS your sentence? What were you convicted OF? Is it your first offense?

I left to.see my sick granpa... I got caught and arreseted... I was locked up but I bond myself out... my fines and fees are paid off already that's ythey were going to take me off already... I was senceted 3yrs I'm almost two yrs on p.b on July && &&its my frist offence.

In MY state that would NOT be a violation. I'd ask my PO to see the rules that says you can't leave the county.

The judge might take it into consideration that you were under emotional stress concerned about your grandpa, but if they arrested you in a night club or on the streets instead of being with grandpa, the judge probably won’t be so lenient with you and perhaps not at all. Like excon wrote, you MIGHT have to serve the rest of your sentence incarcerated and I think this has much to do with your attitude and proof of reason for leaving the county, even though it is a technical violation, unless that is, a criminal act was committed on your part while out of the county, but since you bonded, I guess not. So if you've done 2 years on probation, looks like now you could be facing a year in jail.

You should read again your probation terms and conditions as directed by the courts and your probation officer, as excon suggested and good advice to you. Ask to have another copy given to you. Probation is a time to improve yourself, what are you doing to improve and better your life by the choices you make? This is what the judge and your p.o. want to see, self improvement and following probation terms and conditions.

As far as I can remember, lets say that you have a 10 year sentence. After 5 years in prison they let you go on probation. 4 years and 6 months later you flat mess up on the probation. The State can make you complete your 10 years time... which is that remaining 5 years. The states wants there 10 years and you have only given them 5 years.

Close, but no cigar. That would be unless the judge sentenced him to 10 years, but suspended 5 of it pursuant to the successful completion of a 5 year term of probation.. Then your scenario would work.

If, however, he was sentenced to a flat 10 years, and he was released after 5 years, it would be PAROLE than he's on and NOT probation.. Since it's parole, meaning he's doing his time on the streets, his release date CANNOT be changed. Therefore, if he messes up 4 years and 6 months later, he can only be made to serve the remaining 6 months.
