A bullet passes through a board, the velocity on entering being 1200 m/s and on leaving 1100m/s. how many such boards of equal thickness placed one behind the other will the bullet penetrate assuming constant retardation.

One borad slows it by 100m/s, so how many boards will slow it by 1200m/s?

Each board will slow it by a further 100m/s...
The first board slows it to 1100m/s
The second slows it by another 100m/s to 1000m/s
The third slows it to 900m/s

How many boards slow it to 0m/s?

ohkk i see.. can we use an arithmetic progression equation .. Tn= a+(n-1)d where a=1100 and the difference, d, = -100 to find how many boards would penetrate

Or you could just divide 1200 by 100...
