Hello,
My light swtich in the bathroom is making noise. When I turned it on this morning it made a popping noise. So I called then Landord and "She can do nothing today. Sunday/Mothers Day" So I taped it down with regular tape so I would not forget and turn it on again. I was sitting at my computer and it started making a popping noise, switched off. This is a studio attached to a front house.

Donna,

Happy Mother's Day, if that applies,

I need some help from you.

Is this a stuido apartment or a "Business" stuido as in Art or Ceramics?

My first reaction is to tell the landlord that this is a condition that could caus a fire, Her choice, get an electrician out to fix the problem or suffer the consequences if a fire does occur. The popping sound you are hearing may be an arching problem.

Arching because of a loose connention creates heat, which could cause burnt insulation and then ignite surrounding materials.

Hello,
Thank You So Much for your Response. I am afraid to leave my little place.
It is a Studio home build on the back of the front house. No Art or ceramic place.
I have lived here for 6 months and this just started. I noticed once in awhile the family up front would come out to the elctrical box and flip a breaker back on after it popped off. In February I also noticed they bought new LCD tv's for them and the Kids, if this help. Happy for them, not sure if that figures into the electrical situation. Usually they are always at work, just so happens we are all at home today?
This noise just started this morning. After I told the Family up front, they shut some things off ( I guess) and it has not happened since.
I appreciate your assistance here so much. Thank You

Do you have your own breaker panel for your apartment?

Removing the bulb(s) that the switch controls MAY stop any arcing until the switch problem can be diagnosed, but not guaranteed. Maybe you need to get a written complaint in the hands of the landlord.
