Some time before the reign of Henry I. Adverse possession - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adverse_possession), or 1763 (if pre-revolutionary French law had no such concept), depending on how you figure it. :)

There really is no such thing as squatters rights, The law confused with that is adverse possession.
