One shower in our house had not been used in 8 months and when I took a five minute shower, had some minor dripping from the pvc drain pipe onto the unfinished laundry room directly below the drain.
Do you think this is from unuse of the shower, expansion contraction, some combination thereof?
Any suggestions?

This question looks like a repeat. Was there not about 4 or 5 answers to this question just last week?

Several things come to mind. If the floor gives or flexes a bit when stepped upon the drain seal may be ruptured or the tile grout may have shrunk allowing water to drip from the pipe. You will have to track the leak back to the source. Let me know what you find. Good luck, Tom

The shower is a one piece fiberglass one. When I check the drain (could email you a picture) there is a metal popoff grid, probably to keep gross stuff from going down the drain. Then inside there is what looks like a 3" plastic nut, which I think draws the pipe up against a washer to seal the connection. I need to check more but when water was poured down the pipe without touching the connection, no problem. I need to retest this as I had to leave the house and come back home. So what I will need is some sort of wrench to tighten that "nut". There are four slits in the top of the nut for some sort of wrench to fit.
Will have to go back in two weeks due to prior commitment, but will let you know what I find. Thank you ever so much for your interest.
Mark:)
