We recently built a new home. When I open my windows, we get a smell in our home that smells a little like natural gas. We've had the gas company out and they also smell the smell but said it is not natural gas. They did several tests to ensure it is not natural gas. When we close the windows, the smell goes away. I've ha the builders in and they cannot figure the smell out either. When you walk around my house you cannot smell the gas and no one else in my neighborhood has this problem. We are very worried because we have two small children who are breathing this air. Any suggestions?

Is the gas meter close to the window you have open? The reason I ask is that the gas regulator at times can release gas into the air.

No. The weird thing is the smell is strongest in my dining room (bottom floor front) my bedroom ( top floor back of house) and when you walk upstairs.

Could possibly be sewer gas from the vent pipe. Sometimes air currents and house shape cause backdrafts.

We're having the same issue in our new home. Did you find out what it is?
