We bought a property in foreclosure, the driveway entrance is to a private road, the driveway has been in existence since 1977 when the house was built. The neighbor has blocked the entrance to the house saying the road is on his property, with pipe and barbed wire so we can't cross to the driveway from the road, is this right.

No its not right. It may not even be legal.
But its going to cost you to fight it. I assume you purchased title insurance. So Monday morning you contact the title insurer. They can tell you where the property lines are. They can also tell, if the driveway is on his property, whether there is an easement that allows you use of the driveway.
You may have to sue the neighbor and the house sellers.
It might be cheaper to build your own driveway on your side of the property.
