I just had a 1 1/2 in black plastic water line run undergroud to an out building. I now have to connect it to 1 in copper at the source and 1/2 in copper in the out building. What type of fittings do I need to make this work?

You wish tom reduce 1 1/2" ABS pipe down to 1" copper. Correct? You will need
A small can of ABS cement and primer. Plus a 1 1/2" ABS male threaded adapter and a copper 1 1/2" X 1" Female threaded adapter Solder up the copper first and then Teflon tape the threads and screw them together. You may now cement the ABS adapter to the ABS service line. From the 1" copper you can come off the 1" main with !X1X1/2" tees to pick up all branches, Good luck, Tom

I'm going to bet that the Captain is talking about a black poly tubing here. If that is the case, he'll want to purchase an 1.5" brass male x hose adapter and then purchase an 1.5" female x 1" copper adapter. Here, heat the poly pipe a bit with a torch and then insert the hose adapter and tighten up two SS hose clamps well.

Next, solder the 1.5" female x 1" copper adapter onto the 1" copper pipe and let it cool before installing it onto the male adapter.

After that you'll need a 1"x1/2" copper tee to connect to the 1/2" copper pipe.

In the image below, you are looking for a similar fitting for the poly transition, but I recommend you purchase the hose x male adapter in brass if possible. If not and plstic is all they have then that will also work.

That should get you started.

Good luck!
