View Full Version : Will a swallow of beer make you fail an EtG test

On Wednesday at 8:30pm I had two swallows of Icehouse beer, and Thursday I accidentally sipped someone's wine thinking it was my glass, however, it was not a mouthful. Friday morning at 8:00am I had to take a random ETG test, will I test positive? (I drank water regularly and on Thursday after I sipped that wine I drank 3 40oz cups of water)

Your expressions "swallows" and "mouthful" are meaningless. Thanks for thinking of me. Can't help.

When I say two swallows, I'm saying I drank from the can twice that's its. And when I said not a mouthful of wine it means it was just enough to taste, my concern is the fact that some went down my throat

I doubt that it will show up but you're in the time range where it is possible if a 100ng cutoff is used. Shouldn't be a problem at 500. EtG peaks at about 3-5 hours post-consumption and then declines rather rapidly.

It is important to realize that even small amounts of alcohol, such as one may be exposed to incidentally, does create EtG and at a cutoff of 100ng can be detected in a urine test. (see Thierauf, 2009) Detection is mostly a matter of timing. EtG is detectable only for a brief period (at peak value) due to small amounts of alcohol. Unless you are unfortunate enough to test within that critical period, as noted above, then it is unlikely that EtG will be at a level that can be detected.

Same thing happened to me yesterday. My "friend offered me McDonalds sweet tea and I took a sip. I tasted beer and immediately spit it out, although some did go down my throat. I took a ETG test at 8 this morning and I am freaking out. Can someone please help me? I am supposed to be off probation in one month and this is just not sitting well. Chokolayte, what happened with your test?
