My husband and I have our own home, car and property out of USA, everything is under both names, we live in TN. Does my stepdaughter have the right to claim any property if my husband dies? Do we need a will? Thank you!!

Yes you need a will and really a international attorney since property outside the US can be challenged by laws of that nation.

You need a Will prepared in the State where you reside (TN), because that's where the Will would be probated.

You write a Will specifically excluding the stepdaughter. I am guessing that this his his daughter, your stepdaughter, and you believe she will attempt to "collect" when her father dies?

If he doesn't want that to happen, then he needs to have a solid, Attorney-prepared Will.

If you don't want her to inherit from YOU if he passes first I would do the same thing BUT she is not "entitled" to collect from your estate.

My Attorney prepares Wills with a contest in mind, even though the person who "might" make a claim has no legal claim.
