I have a 16 hp vanguard in a 96 wacker compactor, can get it started for a short period using carb and choke cleaner,I cleaned carb, is there anything else that could be wrong, it ran fine last fall, we did put seafoam in it prior to winter storage. Also need an owners manual, any idea?

Hi,
Have no real answer for you, except the company US headquarters is in Wisconsin and the Technical Services department has toll-free number - (800)770-0957.
Peace,
Clarke

It appears you did try to prep it for winter but you still have a carb issue. Dump the gas, dump the bowl, clean the needle. Fill the tank and raise the bowl until it stopd. Do you get a good flow of fuel with the bowl raised, does it stop when you drop the bowl?

Hi,
An unusual issue I have seen on Vanguard engines is that the fuel shutoff will clog and once I even saw one that would go past open and partially shut.
Peace,
Clarke

Yep and I even failed to snap that wire back on fully once so it acted intermittently
