His child support obligation states he is liable for 1/2 medical expenses. I have provided him with the copies of the receipts and he laughed. I was told I can take him to court to recover the expenses. I have a child support case and recently got divorced with another case number.

Then the papers you will want to file since there is a judgement in place is contampt papers. You want to indicte to the courts his contempt of court refusal to follow orders. Also you will need to show a copy of the existing order and where it shows medical expenses. Then take all the proof with you to court. So long as you have followed the guidelines then you should have a strong case.
