If there is a civil summons for you from a bank that you have a loan through, what could it mean?

It could mean that you are not paying and they are sueing you to get a judgement for payment. Assuming you are being summoned as a defendant not as a witness.

Did you bother to read the summons? What does it say?

Basically a Civil summons is an order to respond to a Civil court case. The nature of that response would be detailed in the summons.
