My left kidney is smaller than my right kidney according to a sonogram I had a year ago; the report said mild cortical atrophy bilateral. I never did a follow up because it said mild, and I have no health insurance. Well it has been a year and was wondering if this is something I should even worry about with no symptoms of any kidney problems.

The ultrasound was due to see if I had a blood clot because my right foot was swelling.

I am female 47 and in good health, not over weight.

This is not the sort of question that should be answered online, because if someone says 'you are probably OK' there might be some probability that you aren't, for related reasons or other reasons. Say there's a hypothetical 5% chance of something, and you fall into that 5% group, it doesn't help you any that 95% of the other people are fine.

At age 47, healthy or not, you might want to start looking into a major medical, HMO, a state subsidized plan for the uninsured, and new federal regulations. Also look for clinics affiliated with medical schools, even if far away, where you could pay for a full physical at a reasonable rate.
