Why don't men have as much rights as women when it comes to THEIR CHILD?

Yes of course they have rights, same rights as a father listed on a birth certificate.
But they just have to prove paternity first. Most men don't hire attorneys and fight for their rights, they merely give them up without a fight.

Human Reproduction 101: Mainly because the woman gives birth to the child, while the father could be on the other side of the world at the time. This means that the identity of the father isn't at all as obvious as the identity of the mother. Particularly when the mother isn't married.

When men can live through the 9th month of pregnancy and give birth, they can talk to me about having as many rights as women.
Until then, they can do the following things to get their rights enforced AFTER the child is born:
1. Go to court to establish paternity through a court-ordered DNA test.
2. Go to court to establish visitation and/or custody
3. Go to court to VOLUNTARILY set up child support (with the RIGHTS come the OBLIGATIONS).
4. Take an active interest in the life of their child and be civil to the other parent so that they can co-parent effectively.
Men can also stop an adoption from happening IF they are proactive about their rights and register on putative father registries (in states that have them).
So they DO have rights--they just have to work harder to have those rights recognized and enforced.
