I have a scotts riding mower by john deere ,model 52348 with a kohler 75530 engine: The engine will not start after sitting all winter , fuel was drained before winter, I changed the fule filter and cleaned the spark plugs and the engine just turns over with out starting. Tried a small amount of started fluid not even a sputter .
Appears there is not any spark?
Thanks michael - albuquerque

Hi,
First I believe that you have a macine made for Home Depot by the Noma division of Murray. That is what the model number tells me. Somewhere there will be a wire that is part of the frame wiring harness that grounds out the ignition. It attaches to the engine. Unpluggib it will separate the engine from the frame. Try to see if it will start with the engine isolated. If so and swich on, touch the frame wire to the engine connector. If it tries to die, replace the ignition switch. If it still has no spark, it is probably the coils.
Another culprit could be the fuel pump, though the engine should have tied to crank off the starter fluid.
Peace,
Clarke
