My neighbor (male, 6', 200+lb) has been harassing my family for about 4 months now. My husband, daughter (16), and I had to stop walking in the neighborhood because of his harassment. Everyone walks to stay fit but the last time we tried to walk, she shook a shovel at us and yelled profanity in front of my child. He has sprayed our car with water from his water hose when we drive by and today was mocking my husband as he tossed out the trash. We called the police when the shovel situation happen. What can we do to protect ourselves? Other neighbors have told us he is unstable and takes medication. He even does work for an elderly lady that appears to be fearful of him and is having a hard time making him stop. She is the one having to give him money because of the work he does for her that she does not want done. Please help, I am in Texas.

I had a typo above, she shook a shovel at us.- not she.

First it's not a good idea to piggyback your question on another thread. To avoid confusion I've moved your post to its own thread.

Report the threat to the police, maybe get the neighbors together to file a complain and possibly get a restraining order against him.

Carry mace or something like that with you, learn some self defense, if he crosses the line and becomes a danger you protect yourself. Carry a video camera with you and record him.

For the other lady, have her tell him that she no longer needs his work, and just refuse to pay him. Sometimes we have to do things that are hard for us to do.

Texas is a great state to carry a weapon also.
