My 5 month old baby was held by a person who did not know at the time, but has a staph infection. Could my baby have received the infection by being held?

My 5 month old baby was held by a person who did not know at the time, but has a staph infection. Could my baby have received the infection by being held?

Did that person have open weeping sores? Did your baby have any open wounds (scratches, etc.)? If not, then I'd say you and your babyare safe.

That person did have a sore on her leg, but she was wearing pants. She is not the greatest at washing hands and my baby is grabbing anything within reach and putting it in her mouth. I just wonder if she could get staph from it being on clothes or anything else on a person.
