Hello. I came to the U.S thinking that my mother was transferred from her job at the country I was born in to the U.S. When I tried to become a naturalized citizen, my mother's and my application was was put on hold and USCIS sent our applications to a fraud detection agency, where they wanted to videotape the interviews for both of us. Confused, I later found out that my mother was actually a political asylee and I am an asylee derivative. In my naturalization interview, I think I said that my mother came to the U.S for work (because my mother never told me that we were political asylees), which may have led USCIS to think that there was fraud in our case. Also, after receiving our green cards, we went back to the country we claimed asylum for a very short time to visit my ailing grandmother, who died shortly after. We haven't been back to our country since. My sister, on the other hand, was able to become a naturalized citizen. Can someone please tell us if me and my mother should proceed with the taped interview or should we withdraw our case for naturalization? Thank you.
